SHS 2020-2021 Academic Decathlon Team is Runner-up at State Contest

The SHS Academic Decathlon Team is sponsored annually by the School District of Seward, the School District of Seward High Ability Learner Program (HAL) and the Seward Optimist Club.

The 2020-2021 Seward High Academic Decathlon team earned runner-up
in the medium school division at the state competition Feb. 19th and 20th, losing only to Omaha’s Daniel Gross HS. The students compete both as a team and with individual scores in various areas of academic divisions with all information centering on this year’s theme, “Cold War.” Elizabeth Gokie won the top score and a gold medal for being the top scorer on the Seward High team, and Cole Gray won a bronze medal for third place in the Essay Division. Noelle Baker is their coach/sponsor. The team is funded by the Seward High Ability Learner (HAL) Program and the Seward Optimist Club.
