Seward Optimist Club Hosts Pitch, Hit and Run Competition


The Seward Optimist Club hosted the Major League Baseball Pitch Hit & Run Contest presented by the Major League Baseball Network at the Plum Creek Sports Complex in Seward, on July 12, 2021. The Seward Recreation Department assisted with preparing the grounds and fields, equipment, and advertising of the contest. This skills program provides boys and girls, ages 7-14, the opportunity to showcase their pitching, hitting, and running abilities in either the baseball or softball divisions. Age division was determined by birthdate as of July 17, 2021. Thirty-eight youth competed in the contest and all participants were rewarded with a certificate from the Dairy Queen of Seward. The local champions received an MLB LOCAL CHAMPION certificate for their efforts.

NEXT LEVEL QUALIFIERS – MLB TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS:
Danielle Pallat, (Softball 13/14) from Seward; Owen Rodocker (Baseball 9/10) from Seward; and Colby Yates (Baseball 11/12) from McCool Junction qualified for the Kansas City Royals Team Championship on Sept. 18 at the Kansas City Royals Kauffman Stadium.
